Hello cooler weather! It's been a long time, and I have missed you dearly! Please bless us with beautiful Fall colors and stay cool for a while, I want to enjoy you for you and put off winter for a while :)
With the cooler weather settling in... you know I am SUPER excited! Aside from the fun fall clothes I can now wear, my mind is buzzing with kitchen tasty treats I can now make! Apples and pumpkins and squashes (funny word) are all now in season. And soups and stews can finally make an appearance as they are great for warming the cool body right up! And THIS, will be my first slow cooker recipe EVER!!!!!! Get excited, because it's a real winner! Did I mention this is the first time for my slow cooker too? It was a wedding present and boy is it fancy! Can't wait to get started!
Ingredients
* 2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into 1 inch cubes
* 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
* 1 clove garlic, minced
* 1 bay leaf
* 1 teaspoon paprika
* 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
* 1 onion, chopped
* 1 1/2 cups beef broth
* 3 potatoes, diced
* 4 carrots, sliced
* 1 stalk celery, chopped
Directions
1. Place meat in slow cooker. In a small bowl mix together the flour, salt, and pepper; pour over meat, and stir to coat meat with flour mixture. Stir in the garlic, bay leaf, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, onion, beef broth, potatoes, carrots, and celery.
2. Cover, and cook on Low setting for 10 to 12 hours, or on High setting for 4 to 6 hours.
Serves about 6.
Your home will smell wonderful all day, and your meal will be a savory feast! I served the stew in bowls, accompanied by slices of fresh, crusty bread.
